Basketball Hoop Accessories

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

What accessories can you add to your basketball hoop to make playing basketball more fun? More importantly, what can you add to bring your game to the next level? The things you can add are lights to play into the night, return aids, rebound helpers, retention net, and a ball carrier. Lights are most definite for outside courts. They allow you to truly play at night, and nighttime is some of the best time to play. It is cooler and simply has a better atmosphere. Some options for lights are just your average light that you put on your garage, or you could get a light up basketball net. These nets glow in the dark and some even light up extra when you score. Kind of cool. You can also get glow in the dark basketball as well.

Return aids also called basketball return nets or basketball chutes are very helpful when you are shooting and you want the ball to come back to a desired location like shooting free throw. These are connected to the rim and when a shot is made, the ball goes back to where the return net was pointing. Rebound helpers can be people, but I was talking about a piece of equipment that helps improve your rebounding ability. This device is placed inside the basketball hoop and helps with your rebounding skills. We all know how important rebounding is in the game of basketball. You need to practice more than just your dribbling and shooting out on that court.

A retention net helps you in rebounding ball. They are hooked the back of the basketball hoop and are big nets that catch all makes and miss of shots. These are somewhat spend, but allow you to get off a lot more shots because your ball will not be flying everywhere because the retention net will be catching it. Ball carriers are also very helpful if you have a lot of balls to go with them. With a lot of balls you do not have to chase after the misses. You can just grab the next ball of the rack. After you are done with a drills, you can take a break by picking up all the balls that went all over the place.

Get a Portable Basketball Ring

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

Everybody loves basketball, or most people anyway. Most of our kids have their heroes from their favorite basketball team and many aspire to being a pro basketball player one day. So what do they need most in life. All kids need a basketball ring in their yard so they can practice all day long. When one or two kids get together they compete with each other to dribble and shoot and they generally are having fun and getting some valuable fresh air. Much better than sitting in front of the TV or that video game getting square eyes. We all know that gaining weight prematurely is becoming a major problem for our kids so getting them a basketball ring for the backyard is probably one of the most important purchases you can make for them. Kids of all ages love to throw hoops and it doesn’t matter if they are still pre-school age or a mature teen, they all love it.

Basketball courts are big business in the Philippines where the kids just love to play. The kids from the Philippines love to copy anything from the US so they love their basketball. It is considered so important to provide some sort of sports outlet for kids that the local politicians all make sure they get the funds to build courts all over their local areas. They are plastered with their name of course but that is all promotion I suppose. They always have a roof in the Philippines so the kids can still play in the heat of the day.

One major problem with backyard basketball rings has always been the little kids. They all want to throw hoops too but the normal ring is much too high for them. Then of course if you have kids of different ages then a short ring is going to be no good to them and of course if Dad wants to have a game with the neighbors he is going to want the full size setup. However, some companies have solved that problem and designed a portable basketball ring. This can be easily wheeled out to wherever you want it and is very stable with the base being filled with sand or water. They have made the pole fully adjustable with a simple click up or down movement so that it can be adjusted to suit any age kid. The whole thing is completed with a full size backboard.
